Punteado and rasgueado

In the example here below you can see how to build an E chord performed with the puntaedo technique (a stroke with one finger downwards or upwards, used in flamenco/world music as well as in classical Baroque music. We used three layers to attain high reality of sound.

In voice 1: the 'punteado on gbe with the E chord' (P21; C1,60)
In voice 2: the 'punteado on be in fourth' (P21; C1,40) for the upwards momement, which contains always less strings than the upwards one.
In voice 3 : the 'punteado full range' (P21; C2,70) for the bass note, this note can be changed into any other note. Or just simply add more notes (lower of course) to have a fuller E chord.

Chords, the way you want them

Here you can see and hear how you can make literally any chord. Click on the play button under the score to listen. The C1 parameter is indicated: it gives a major (C1=60) or minor (C1=80) punteado chord on the gbe strings.

Portamento

Of course first we selected the portamento patch (7-FullRangeNormal-Portamento-all). You can see here how the CC1 parameter has been used to have that nice glissando sound in this demo.

C1,40 in this example means: CC number 1 with value 40. (In Sibelius you'll have to add the ~ sign: ~C1,40, as shown hee below)

The basic tempo here was 100 for the quarter note. So you can or should customize your own placement of the portamento notes themselves with a certain extent, of course depending of the tempo. This feature makes your midi version very personalized!

The portamento note by the way is always starting from the prior note as you can see in both images. So don't choose the target note!
